John Benedict has become an author at a very late time in his life. Raised on a small farm and graduating in a class of 13, he was raised in an isolated environment. He attended college after living in a world where the only graduates from college were the pastor, doctors and teachers. He chose engineering, a poor choice for his skills but the Lord was good in granting him only one offer after graduation, sales engineering. He started at Honeywell as a sales engineer selling technical products. He was transferred to 4 major cities as he rose from rookie salesman to a manager of 40 people.

After 13 years at Honeywell, John left for greater challenges starting his first company soon after. He grew it to 25 people, lost it because of embezzlement by a financial manager after 22 years and started a second company at 60 years of age. He enjoyed working and went into semi-retirement at 82 years of age. His work has led to an adventurous life having lived in 5 major cities, attended 16 different churches and lived in 14 different houses.

The company was lost during a 3-year period in which there was an unexpected divorce, cancer and a short bout with depression. Those crises were benefits in the long run. John Benedict started his governmental interest in his early 20s. He since has been involved in government activities, participating in caucuses, state conventions and writing on the subject. 65 years of reading and writing on government has been an education way beyond government 101. Experience beats listening to teachers and professors.

He enjoyed sports, coaching little league teams and playing basketball when still young. John found dancing as a recreation during his difficult times and that has provided a new life of music and a family of friends. This was more than an occasional activity, 2-4 times a week for 30 years.

Having grown up on a farm, he still spends a great deal of time landscaping. He and his wife see God’s creation in living things.

John was baptized at 2 weeks of age and has never taken a vacation from church. He served in church government and service as an usher, financial committee, teacher for over 30 years, organized a church marketing committee, been head deacon of a medium sized church and head elder of a large church - Just about every position in a church except pastor and music director. He has also attended 5 years of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), the most intensive Bible Study for men available. His growth in faith has been continual and rewarding to his life.

John and his wife live in Florida. Family is spread out over 6 states and includes children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
